# Script templates for six ad formats

Template · Filming

Fill-in scripts for a testimonial, an unboxing, a problem and solution, a before and after, a tutorial and a day in the life, with timings and the shots to film.

## The short version

These six scripts cover the formats that come up again and again in UGC briefs. Each one splits the video into timed beats, and every beat says what to say, what to show and, where it helps, what text to put on screen. Copy one, replace everything in [square brackets], and film from it.

Start with the testimonial. Its structure (hook, reason, product, result, call to action) sits underneath the other five, so once you can film it well, the others are variations.

All six scripts are free with your creator profile. The testimonial script is open to everyone on this page, so you can try it before you join.

## When to use each template

**The six scripts**

| Template | Use it when | Length |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Testimonial | The brand wants you to vouch for the product in your own words | 20–45 seconds |
| Unboxing | The packaging or the first impression is part of the appeal | 15–40 seconds |
| Problem and solution | The product fixes a clear, familiar problem. Common for paid ads | 20–45 seconds |
| Before and after | The result is visible: skin, hair, a clean surface, a tidy room | 15–30 seconds |
| Tutorial | Buyers need to see how to use the product, step by step | 30–60 seconds |
| Day in the life | The brand wants the product shown in a real routine, without a hard sell | 20–60 seconds |

_Lengths are for the finished video. Follow the brief when it gives a length._

### How the scripts are written

- **Say** is a line you speak. Say it in your own words. A script read word for word sounds like an ad, and viewers skip ads.
- **Show** is what the camera sees during that beat. It doubles as your shot list.
- **Text on screen** is a short overlay for people watching without sound. Keep it under about eight words.
- Timings assume a 30-second video. For a longer one, stretch the middle beats, not the hook.

## Testimonial

Use this when the brand wants a real person vouching for the product. It works for almost any category and is the base for most of the other scripts. The video rests on one honest result, so pick the one thing you noticed most.

**Script 1: testimonial (30 seconds)**
```text
HOOK (0–3 s)
Say: “[hook line]”
Show: [what moves in the first second]
Text on screen: [overlay, under 8 words]
WHY YOU TRIED IT (3–10 s)
Say: “I’d been dealing with [problem] for [how long], and [what you tried before] didn’t help.”
Show: you talking to camera, or the problem if it’s visible
THE PRODUCT (10–20 s)
Say: “Then I tried [product] from [Brand]. The first thing I noticed was [first impression].”
Show: close-up of [product], then you using it
THE RESULT (20–27 s)
Say: “Now [result in your own words]. [key message from the brief].”
Show: [the result], in the same light as the hook
CALL TO ACTION (27–30 s)
Say: “[call to action from the brief].”
Show: [product] next to your face, or on its own
Text on screen: [offer or brand name]
```

### How to fill it in

- [hook line]: one of the question, problem or result hooks from the [hooks guide](https://ugcstars.com/creator-hub/hooks). Write three and film them all if the brief asks for variations.
- [what moves in the first second]: the product, your hands or you. Start mid-action.
- [overlay, under 8 words]: the hook in short, for viewers with the sound off.
- [problem], [how long] and [what you tried before]: your real situation. Specific details make the testimonial believable.
- [product] and [Brand]: the names exactly as the brand writes them.
- [first impression]: texture, smell, size, how fast it worked. Something you could only know by using it.
- [result in your own words]: what changed for you. Don’t promise results for everyone.
- [key message from the brief]: the one point the brand needs said. If it’s long, shorten it without changing the meaning.
- [call to action from the brief]: usually “Link below”, a discount code or “Try it for yourself”. Use their wording.
- [offer or brand name]: the code, the offer or the brand name, as the brief gives it.
